St. Mark’s welcomes all to Election Week prayer vigil

Keep alert, stand firm in our faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.
— 1 Corinthians 16: 13-14

Starting Sunday, Nov. 3, St. Mark’s will open its front door for two hours each evening, 5 to 7 p.m., for a nonpartisan and interfaith vigil of prayer and reflection.  Because of the possibility that the presidential election results will not be known for several days, the vigil will continue through Sunday, Nov. 10.

“We invite everyone to join us for a time of peace, meditation, prayer, and music,” said the Rev. Linda Bartholomew, vicar of St. Mark’s.  “We know that events leading up to the election are already generating fear and anxiety among many in the community, and are reaching out in a spirit of compassion and hope.”

There will be no formal readings or worship service during these times. All are welcome, regardless of faith or political affiliation.

Please be aware of these conditions:

  • No clothing, signs or other items that support or oppose specific candidates or ballot measures will be allowed inside the church.

  • The only area of the building open to visitors will be the nave (worship space) and the restrooms on the lower level.

  • On-street parking may be limited during the evenings (Monday-Friday) when the Moscow-Latah County Library is open. (St. Mark’s is located at 111 S. Jefferson, across from the library.)
