Christmas Day Recital

Longtime St. Mark’s member Linda Wharton will present a musical gift to the community at 3 p.m. Christmas Day. Wharton will perform three of J.S. Bach’s unaccompanied suites for cello. Based on dances from the 1600s and 1700s, the suites were rarely performed after Bach’s death in 1750. They were revived in the 1820s by Felix Mendelsohn and given new visibility by Pablo Casals in the 20th Century. Wharton is a member of the Washington Idaho Symphony and performs often with other regional orchestras, as well as Moscow’s own Rose Garden Trio.
